THE THROUGHLINE
Venmo launched a microdrama on TikTok called The Group, built around its own Groups feature. Four college students share a house, and episode one focuses on an argument over what to call their Venmo Group. It ends with Benny telling viewers to post a name in the comments, and that the winning name will appear in episode two.
Groups isn't new, but Venmo gave it a more prominent place in the app redesign it started rolling out in May. Similar to Xfinity’s recent vertical series launch, Venmo is teaching a feature in an entertainment format the target demo already watches, with characters whose living situation provides the use case.
Coach, Pinterest and SWAN Beauty focused on building awareness in recent brand activation campaigns. Coach built its fall campaign around a Spotify partnership and live events at college campuses. Pinterest paid for a phone-free couture debut in London. SWAN Beauty put its AI smart mirrors into five New York Fashion Week spaces.
Meta launched its Creator Marketing Hub globally, making it easier for brands to pick creators, find content, manage partnership permissions, and activate ads in one central dashboard inside Meta Business Suite.

THE LEAD
Venmo Wrote Its App Feature Into a Microdrama
Venmo launched “The Group” on Tuesday, a mockumentary microdrama running on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube Shorts. Skyler Fulton directed. Four college students share a house, and episode one runs 1:22 on an argument about what to name their Venmo Group. It ends with Benny, played by Omar Idris, telling viewers to post a name in the comments, and the winning name appears in episode two.
Venmo Groups lets up to 30 people track and split ongoing shared expenses. Venmo shipped this feature in November 2023 but surfaced it more prominently in the app redesign it began rolling out in May.
Venmo built a premise around the Groups product spec. Four people sharing a house is the exact situation Groups was built for, so the show demonstrates the feature by raising the stakes in a comedic, short-form series format. The comment prompt does a second job: it makes viewers a part of the campaign on a platform where Venmo can reach them again.
QUICK HITS
Coach took its fall campaign on the road with Spotify.
Coach launched “Live Your Story” on September 16 as a global Spotify partnership. The Tabby Tour left New York on Wednesday for college campuses and venues in the U.S., U.K., Japan and South Korea. Live performances run at select stops, tracked on an interactive map inside Spotify. U.S. dates continue in Boston on September 22, Washington on September 24, Ohio State on October 6 and the University of Iowa on October 15. Four films by Vincent Haycock pair Elle Fanning with musicians including PinkPantheress, Lilas and Shan Yichun. Tapestry raised Coach’s marketing spend roughly 20% year over year, shifting toward top-of-funnel brand building.

Pinterest paid to take 50 phones off a London Fashion Week front row.
Pinterest proposed and funded a phone-free format for Claudia Smith London’s couture debut at the British Museum on September 20. Assigned photographers shot the runway, and guests collected official images by QR code afterward. Pinterest argues that 96% of searches on the platform carry no brand name. That buys a shopper’s attention while she is still deciding what she wants. Pinterest previously sponsored a phone-free activation at Coachella. It’s unclear if this activation will do more to promote Pinterest or Claudia Smith.

SWAN Beauty turned one sponsored bachelorette trip into five Fashion Week rooms.
SWAN Mirror, the nine-month-old smart mirror company with AI skin analysis, face mapping, and AR try-on features, sponsored creator Brigette Pheloung’s bachelorette trip in April. iOS downloads rose 4,000% week over week, and subscription signups rose 1,900%. It ran the same play across five New York Fashion Week partnerships this month. Those included a Plaza Hotel masterclass with Vike Beauty and a week of mirrors at RPZL Rockefeller Center. Site traffic rose 32% week over week. Co-founder Colby Mitchell staffs one brand educator for every three mirrors so everyone in the room can try a SWAN mirror on camera.

WORTH WATCHING
Instagram switches on live video ads for advertisers on September 29.
Meta launched its Creator Marketing Hub globally at the IAB’s first Global Creator Week on September 17. Facebook creators join Instagram creators in a single Creator Marketplace API, so one integration reaches both. The Content Discovery API now surfaces top-performing organic creator content, and Partnership Ads are supported by the Meta Ads MCP connector, which lets an agency create and manage them from its own AI agent. Instagram live video ads, which amplify a creator’s live stream as a Partnership Ad, go generally available on September 29; Facebook already has them. The rest of the hub rolls out through the end of 2026. IAB puts 2025 creator spend at $37 billion.

THE TAKEAWAY
Venmo used a branded entertainment format and made the product the premise, so the show teaches Groups by dramatizing the situation it was built for. The comment CTA turns viewers into an audience Venmo can reach again. Coach, Pinterest and SWAN Beauty each bought awareness inside live event formats where their customers already are, and Meta’s new hub lowers the friction and cost of building creator partnerships.
COMMISSIONING SIGNALS — WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 22, 2026
Who’s buying, hiring, and greenlighting branded content this week, from job-post signals to confirmed deals.
This week’s radar: 19 creator and content roles posted. 7 sit in-house at brands, 10 at agencies, 2 at platforms. 3 are director level or above. 12 disclosed a salary band; the median is $102,576.
Read this: Agencies posted 10 of this week’s 19 roles, and none were at director level. All three senior roles sit at brands. MAËLYS wants a Director of Social Commerce who owns the TikTok Shop P&L. Pendulum Therapeutics wants a Director of Influencer Marketing. Base44 wants an Influencer Marketing Lead to build a creator program from scratch. The widest band on the radar belongs to a platform. Google is paying $219,000 to $305,000 for a product marketing lead who sells YouTube’s creator ad products to agencies. Brands hire the people who decide, agencies hire the people who execute, and the platform hires the person who sells to both.
Universe: the 19 creator and content roles listed in Net Influencer’s Creator Economy Job Radar for September 15, 2026, the most recent edition published at press time. Salary figures are midpoints of disclosed annual USD base ranges; hourly rates, non-USD bands, and open-ended floors are excluded.
Brands building owned capability
Why it matters: One job description carries shop strategy, the commercial calendar, the TikTok Shop P&L, the affiliate program, storefront, catalog, and livestream management. A brand writing that brief has stopped treating live selling as a campaign it books and started treating it as a channel it runs. The open question is who the role reports to when the P&L sits in marketing.

Pendulum Therapeutics — Director, Influencer Marketing
Supplements and microbiome science · In-house · Influencer platform · Scientists, physicians, tastemakers, affiliates · Open role, San Francisco · $190,000–$215,000 plus equity · Confirmed intent
Why it matters: The brief spans scientists and physicians alongside performance affiliates, with testing frameworks to improve influencer customer acquisition cost. Credibility and conversion sit in one function, which removes the usual argument about whose budget a creator program comes out of.

Why it matters: Pinterest funded a designer’s debut to show luxury advertisers how early in a purchase it can sit. The case rests on 96% of its searches carrying no brand name. Pinterest has not disclosed the spend, any resulting brand inquiries, or a pre-show benchmark for the designer’s boards.

Platforms buying creator supply
Meta — Creator Marketing Hub, global launch
Why it matters: Meta is turning creator sourcing into an ad-buying motion. One API now covers Facebook and Instagram. Recommendations surface top-performing organic content, and Partnership Ads reach an agency’s own AI agent. Moving discovery and measurement inside the ad platform makes the creator line easier to defend and harder to move off Meta.

Disney — content and development deal with Like Nastya
Kids and family entertainment · Studio · Original animated preschool series, live action, library licensing · Like Nastya, Disney Jr., Disney+ · Announced September 18, no release date · 450 million subscribers across 25 channels in 22 languages · Confirmed
Why it matters: Disney’s fourth creator deal of 2026, after Dhar Mann Studios, Lenny Pearce and Gracie’s Corner. MoffettNathanson puts YouTube’s 2025 revenue at $62 billion against $60.9 billion for Disney’s media business, which is the arithmetic underneath the buying. Why it matters: Authentic owns more than 50 brands, including Reebok and Champion. It runs 1,700 licensees across 150 countries and drives more than $38 billion in systemwide retail sales. Why it matters: Venmo put its own product at the center of the plot and wrote the ask into the script. Name the group in the comments, and the winner appears in episode two.
